Our Founder
Grand Design Construction was founded by Mohamed Ashour, whose passion for construction began at an early age in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Growing up, Mohamed spent countless hours with his father, a respected builder, learning firsthand how homes and commercial buildings were designed and constructed. Watching projects evolve from an empty piece of land into beautiful structures inspired a lifelong passion for architecture, craftsmanship, and creating spaces that improve people’s lives.
Mohamed graduated from the College of Business at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah before moving to the United States at the age of 24 to continue expanding his education and experience in construction management and the American building industry.
After relocating to Charlotte, North Carolina, Mohamed began working for Bombay Furniture, where he gained valuable experience in interior furnishings, home décor, and design. He later opened his own home décor and artwork business, supplying furniture and decorative pieces for homeowners, builders, and model homes throughout the region.
Working closely with builders, developers, interior designers, and real estate professionals gave him a unique understanding of how exceptional design, quality construction, and beautiful interiors work together to create extraordinary homes.
The Beginning
Inspired by those experiences, Mohamed launched his first remodeling company in 2006. The business quickly grew, but like thousands of contractors across America, it faced one of the greatest challenges in the construction industry.
During the 2007–2008 housing market collapse, the mortgage crisis forced many construction companies to close their doors. Rather than giving up on his dream, Mohamed saw the challenge as an opportunity to continue growing his experience in another market.
Building an International Reputation
In 2009, Mohamed returned to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where he established a modern construction company specializing in custom luxury villas and high-end residential construction.
For nearly a decade, from 2009 through 2018, he designed and built numerous custom homes recognized for their modern architecture, clean lines, innovative layouts, and exceptional craftsmanship.
Managing projects from concept and design through engineering, construction, and final completion gave Mohamed invaluable international experience and strengthened his philosophy that every successful project begins with thoughtful planning, clear communication, and uncompromising quality.
Those years not only refined his technical expertise but also shaped the design philosophy that continues to define Grand Design Construction today.
Returning Home
With years of experience, a successful international construction career, and a vision for something different, Mohamed returned to Charlotte determined to introduce a fresh approach to residential and commercial construction.
In 2019, after marrying his wife, Tabby Eve, the couple officially established Grand Design Construction.
Together they built the company on complementary strengths.
Mohamed leads the company’s design, construction operations, project management, and client relationships, while Tabby oversees accounting, financial management, budgeting, and business administration.
Her dedication, financial expertise, and unwavering support have been instrumental in building a strong business foundation. Together they have created a company that values integrity, transparency, quality craftsmanship, and outstanding customer service.
